You learn something new each day...

It's funny how paying attention to life a little more closely brings greater awareness and appreciation.

Often without even realising it, each and every day, we are learning new snippets of information.

I have to say that it wasn't until my son was born that I began to see the world with a new, more carefully focused perspective. What I came to realise is that much of our day to day existence can go by completely unnoticed, and with a little bit of added attention (call it 'mindfulness' if you will), you can capture a little bit of added richness from the world around you.

The idea that you learn something new each day has really become more and more obvious to me -particularly since my son has started school. I thought it would be a great personal exercise to note what I've learned each day (or a few times each week!!) as a way of reflecting on the day, of reliving the little moments and happy memories with my son, and of slowing down the rush and whirlwind with which life seems to pass.

Most of my learnings have been pretty basic, and certainly not highly academic in nature. They are simply those kinds of thoughts where you kind of go "Hey, I didn't know that before - that's kind of cool!", and I thought I'd share them.

And the thing I learned today is that there are a lot of other people out there with the same idea! ;)
